This week Simone Pormes had an interview on Radio 6 in the program Jazz in the morning with Tuffie Vos.

In 2012 the CD ‘Al Jarreau and the Metropole Orkest-Live’ was released by the famous Concord Music and was nominated for a Grammy Award in different categories. Simone Pormes, Lo van Gorp and Lesley van der Aa are the backing-vocalists on this beautiful CD .

Dusty Groove America published a review in which the choir is described as follows: “The bold backings are really wonderful – full and flowing, with loads of warm jazz energy that seems to push Al’s vocals even more than before.” 

Inspired by the work of the great Brazilian masters Simone is now writing bossa nova and samba, again together with Karel Boehlee. For the Brasil Project of Ferdinand van Duuren she writes portuguese lyrics, which she herself sings in this special project.
